Over the course of 2017, DARA has been conducting the evaluation of WFP´s Humanitarian Protection Policy. In recent years, the international community has placed a strong focus on protection; and, in turn, WFP has sought, internally, to enhance its contribution to protection efforts. In 2012, it adopted a Humanitarian Protection Policy, which offers a definition within WFP’s mandates of protection centered on assistance and supporting the protection of crisis-affected people.
The purpose of this evaluation is both accountability and learning. This evaluation has been assessing and reporting on the quality and results of the protection policy and associated operations and activities to implement the policy. It has also been determining the reasons why certain changes occurred or not, to draw lessons for policy formulation and implementation.
This evaluation has covered six field countries and six desk countries throughout Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, and South and Central America. The project team is currently finalizing the evaluation process.
