DARA participated in the European Evaluation Society (EES) Biennial Conference held in Helsinki October 3rd-5th
Riccardo Polastro, Head of Evaluation at DARA, presented lessons learned from real-time evaluations and complex emergencies in two different sessions. Mr. Polastro shared findings and recommendations of DARA’s evaluation of the Humanitarian Response to Pakistan’s 2010 Flood crisis, and the evaluation of the Humanitarian Response in South Central Somalia 2005-2010, both for the Inter- Agency Standing Committee. He also chaired the session “Evaluation capacity building and regional development.”
Prior to the conference, Mr. Polastro lead the workshop Principles and practices of evaluating humanitarian programmes.
The EES aims to stimulate and promote theory, practice and utilisation of high quality evaluation, especially within Europe. This goal is obtained by bringing together evaluation professionals, academics and practitioners from all over Europe and from different professional sectors, thus creating a forum where all participants can benefit from knowledge exchange. The main vehicle for this is the biennial conference.
