DARA is currently conducting an evaluation of WFP´s Humanitarian Protection Policy. In 2013, the Principals of the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) affirmed that all humanitarian actors have a responsibility to place protection at the centre of humanitarian action. Consequently, WFP has sought to enhance its contribution to protection efforts. In 2012, it adopted its Humanitarian Protection Policy, which offers a practical definition of protection centered on assistance and supporting the protection of crisis-affected people.
The purpose of this evaluation is both accountability and learning. This evaluation will assess and report on the quality and results of the protection policy and associated operations as well as activities to implement the policy. It will also determine the reasons why certain changes occurred or not, to draw lessons for policy formulation and implementation.
This evaluation will cover six field countries and six desk countries, throughout Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, South and Central America and. It will run from December 2016 to December 2017.
