Donor scores: Denmark
Denmark ranks first in this year’s Humanitarian Response Index. Based on its scores it is classified as Group 1 donor. This classification allows Denmark to compare its performance, not only to all other Organisation for Economic Co-operation Development/ Development Assistance Committee (OECD/DAC) donors, but also to a sub-group of donors whose performance is similar. The other Group 1 donors are Finland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland. Compared to other OECD/DAC donors, Denmark scores above average in the five “pillars” – groupings of the key concepts of the Principles of Good Humanitarian Donorship, which the donors have committed to respect. Denmark performs above average in comparison to other Group 1 donors, with the exception of protection and international law, where it is close to average. Denmark was above average in 18 of the 35 indicators that make up the Humanitarian Response Index – it was below average in only three indicators.
