The Risk Reduction Index is a global initiative that analyses, by regions of the world, the capacities and conditions for disaster risk reduction. It looks at the factors that contribute to the generation of risk, providing clear guidance for effective risk reduction in vulnerable and hazard prone areas around the world.
It has the support of the United National International Strategy on Disaster Reduction (ISDR) and the Spanish Agency for International Development Agency (AECID) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In 2011 DARA presented the Risk Reduction Index focusing on 7 countries of Central America and the Caribbean, and the project is on-going in 2011-2012 to analyze 8 countries in ECOWAS African region.
