The Steering Committee of the FOREWARN Initiative was launched at the ECOWAS Secretariat in Abuja, Nigeria on 6 December 2011. The Forewarn initiative is focused on enhancing regional capacities in anticipation, adaptation, collaboration, innovation and strategic leadership to reduce vulnerability to emerging and evolving threats. It is currently being implemented in a partnership between the Humanitarian Futures Programme, the African Leadership Centre (both at King’s College, London) and DARA, together with the collaboration of ECOWAS, IFRC and UNISDR.
