Occupied Palestinian territories HRI 2011 field research

A Humanitarian Response Index team will visit the occupied Palestinian territories from 28th March to 2nd April. The team will interview UN agencies, Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement national societies, local and international NGOs, and local authorities on the international donor community response to the protracted crisis of protection and human rights violations.

The Barrier

It is the fourth consecutive year that DARA visits this crisis. The area has seen rising tensions and violence between both sides in recent days and the humanitarian situation remains very much static. Restrictions on access and movement, human rights violations, dependence on foreign aid, the blockade and the barrier continue to be a reality in the occupied territories.

Last year’s HRI field research found donors were generally criticised for allowing political interests to take precedence over the humanitarian need to jointly advocate for access and protection. Read the full HRI 2010 oPt Crisis Report.

For 2011, 12 HRI field missions have been planned. View the calendar. More on field missions.
