New Global Humanitarian Assistance (GHA) report on disaster risk reduction

A new report by Global Humanitarian Assistance  on disaster risk reduction spending confirms the Humanitarian Response Index 2011 findings, launched this month in Geneva.

At DARA, we continue to urge governments to reconsider their aid programmes to address the gap in preparedness, prevention and disaster risk reduction funding. Our ongoing initiative in West Africa shows that there can be significant benefits by adopting more integrated approaches to address the underlying risk factors that make populations vulnerable to disasters.
