DARA will participate in a Public Hearing on the militarisation of humanitarian aid organised by The European Parliament Committee on Development, Wednesday 13th April in Brussels.

“The blurring roles between humanitarian and military actors: state of play and perspectives” will be chaired by Michèle Striffler, first Vice Chair of the Development Committee, Standing Rapporteur for Humanitarian Aid and Member of the European Parliament.

Ross Mountain, Director General of DARA, will present the Humanitarian Response Index 2010 findings which alerted to the growing politicisation and militarisation of humanitarian aid. In 10 out of the humanitarian crises analysed, political interests influenced aid decisions which meant thousands of civilians did not receive the assistance they needed.
