On 21 March, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the ICRC, the International Review of the Red Cross and the Centre for Education and Research in Humanitarian Action (CERAH) convened a panel discussion in Geneva entitled ‘Humanitarian Principles Revisited? Current and Future Challenges’.
DARA and the Climate Vulnerable Forum hosted an official side event to the COP18 UN Climate Change Conference in Doha on December 3rd, 2012.
The Climate Vulnerable Forum’s latest flagship report, the Climate Vulnerability Monitor, reassessed the global costs of climate change. Its double-sided “Cold Calculus” juxtaposed the immense human sacrifice of inaction against what it actually estimated as immediate and sustained economic benefits from an adequate global response. The event discussed the report’s important implications for climate policy with Forum leaders and experts.
The UAE Office for the Coordination of Foreign Aid hosted a one-day workshop today in Abu Dhabi for the UAE’s humanitarian donor community on the principles and practices of evaluating humanitarian programs.
DARA provided technical assistance in Haiti to the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID in its Spanish acronym) in its EU Presidency commitment to contribute to the coordination of the on the ground response.
In the aftermath of the earthquake which struck on January 12, DARA travelled to Haiti to contribute to the maximization of aid efficiency.
