DARA Inc., our office in the US, secured its first grant with the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation for an action research case study of good and poor donor practices in Haiti.

The project aimed to improve the quality, effectiveness, transparency and accountability of aid for disaster affected populations in Haiti and elsewhere. In partnership with Keystone Accountability, DARA developed innovative tools to ensure disaster-affected populations have a greater say in where, when and how aid resources are used for relief and recovery actions.

The study ran for an 18-month period from January 2013 – June 2014.

DARA has previous experience in Haiti within the context of the Humanitarian Response Index in 2010 and 2011, as well as a technical assistance carried out for AECID following the earthquake in January 2010.
